Join Us to Honor our New Guest Artists! Potter Cory Potrafka and Artist Tony Clark

A New Leaf Gallery would like you to help us honor our guest Potter Cory Potrafka and Artist Tony Clark by visiting our Fine Art Gallery inside the Station across from the Floyd Country Store. These exhibits will be on display in the gallery November and December.

Born in Michigan, Cory Potrafka was the son of a potter and a sculptor. They moved to the Appalachian Mountains when Cory was a young child so his father could pursue a full-time career as a potter. Although being immersed in the arts and having an interest in ceramics, Cory ended up spending 20 years following his other passion for music, where he performed at venues and festivals across the Eastern United States. Returning to our great Appalachian Mountains, with a family of his own, he is now back in the studio. Currently, Cory works for the Floyd Center for the Arts, where he manages the pottery studio and is constructing his personal studio at his home just outside of town.

Artist Tony Clark began drawing as a child. Through the years he continued to improve his skills by reading books and studying various artists. Now, semi-retired, he resides in North Carolina with his wife. Tony finds inspiration in nature and old architectural subjects. In fact, he finds himself wanting to stop at every old barn to photograph and draw it when he travels around the mountains of North Carolina and Virginia. Tony primarily uses graphite to achieve the tones and details he seeks in his drawings, but he sometimes also dabbles in colored inks.
