A New Leaf Gallery’s February Exhibit Features FLOYD COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL ARTISTS!

Ten talented Floyd County High School seniors are featured through February at  “A New Leaf Gallery” in downtown Floyd. The featured seniors are Kyra Goff, Emma Whitlock, Rachel St. Pierre, Megan Simpson, Maya Cockram, Summer Melville, Destiny Willis, Krista Duncan, Kit Murphy, and Conner Cox. These seniors have been dedicated in their pursuit of creating art in various mediums and techniques. This year’s exhibit will include pottery, sculpture, acrylic and oil paintings.

High school art instructors Kimberly Ingram and Aven Tanner, are happy to report that three of these seniors plan to “follow their muse” and continue to study art in college. Destiny Willis, who paints meaningful story pictures, is interested in digital media design,. Emma Whitlock works in three dimensional mediums using clay and paper mache. She favors acrylic paint using a textured, Impressionistic style. She will be majoring in art education next fall, along with Mya Cockram who paints in oil and enjoys painting with a pallet knife. 

The students’ exhibit is on display through February.

On Saturday, February 8, 1-4pm, A New Leaf Gallery invites the public to our annual Fundraiser for the High School Art Program, aptly named: “ART + CHOCOLATE.” A delicious, fun family affair. Come enjoy inspiring art, a delicious chocolate tasting table, door prizes, and an auction for two Valentine baskets loaded with original local art and prints, valuable offerings from local business, and so much more!  Tickets can be purchased in the Gallery now or at the door for $1 each, or 6 for $5. A New Leaf Gallery invites visitors to our Fine Arts gallery inside the Station across from the Floyd Country Store. The Gallery offers fine art originals and prints in all media, photography, sterling silver jewelry, note cards, pottery, books by local authors and gifts.
