"I found this gem on a back road in the outskirts of Charleston, SC. The basket ladies IN Charleston clearly did NOT want their photos taken. I stopped and asked her if I could take her picture. In her thick Gullah accent she said, "I'd RATHER you buy my baskets." We made a deal...I could take her picture if I bought one basket...this was in the day of sending film away to be developed, and little did I know, she got my last image on my last roll of film...I didn't even know if I caught her until the photos came back."
