"Cheerfully Dark" by Lori Sutphin - Watercolor

Daisies are one of my favorite flowers. I think of them as always cheerful and happy. I've had the idea to create a painting in reverse, so to speak. Using a dark background the painting was created by, 'erasing' or lifting the paint from the dark background. I love the subtleness of areas and the stark contrast of other areas. Even though using a dark moody background the daisies still remain cheerful.

Original watercolor matted and framed with the painting extended onto the mat.
