A NEW LEAF GALLERY Invites Visitors to a First Friday Reception Friday, October 7, 5pm-7pm

Our September and October featured guests are all about color! Aleen W. Wilson shares her obvious delight in color in her Magic of Glass art, which is lively as well as functional. Paula R. Melton, known regionally for her beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain watercolors, captures our attention with her many shades of blue. Paula’s paintings may inspire a refreshing hike or drive along the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway.

Aleen W. Wilson learned the magic of working with glass in classes and workshops. Aleen is a native of western North Carolina and was an Associate Professor in Chemistry for thirty-plus years. She has gone from being excited about atoms and molecules to being inspired by skillfully making colorful art with glass! Now she inspires others to see the MAGIC OF GLASS by giving workshops, classes and offering her glass art and functional glassware for sale. 

Ms. Wilson is a graduate of Western Carolina University and earned her Masters of Science in Chemistry at Clemson University.

Paula R. Melton, captures the beautiful vistas and colors of the Blue Ridge Mountains that have been the main focus of Paula’s watercolor and acrylic paintings. Known also for her garden floras, wild plant life and old time mountain life scenes of old trucks, barns and home place views, Paula is constantly drawn back to the basic beauty of the natural “blue” shades of the mountain ridges. The Blue Ridge Parkway is the base source of most of her ridge scenes, mostly unspoiled views that allow her to capture the essence of what the most ardent lovers of the Parkway enjoy.
